Chardonnay
The 2008 Chardonnay is the first white from this label and it doesn't disappoint in the slightest. The 86% Washington Chardonnay is blended with 8% Semillon and 6% Viognier. The nose is classic Chardonnay with a twist: citrus zest, stone fruit and almonds. The palate is crisp, clean and refreshing with notes of tangerine, green apple and vanilla. The creamy finish continues the fruit but adds just a slight touch of oak, for balance. A great apertif or a partner for a first course or seafood entree.

Merlot
Abby Road's Merlot is one of the inaugural products for the new Barclay's label and it sets the bar high for the wines to follow. Hailing from Washington State, the 09 Merlot contains a blend of 79% Merlot, 9% Sangiovese, 5% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Lemberger. This interesting blend leads to a delightfully complex nose of sweet cherry and oak with spice, tar and eucalyptus notes. The sweet cherry is the first impression on the palate, followed by more developed and balanced fruit. Supportive but not overbearing tannins provide the structure which leads leads to lingering fruit and oak on the finish. As with many Washington Merlots, this is a versatile food wine that should pair with your entree. However, we wouldn't blame you for wanting to drink this beauty all on its own.

Cabernet
Cabernet is one of the most popular grapes and Abby Road's inaugural work with the grape is stunning. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with 9% Sangiovese, 8% Syrah & 8% Cabernet Franc balance out this superb wine. A deep dark color introduces you to the wine and makes you excited for the first sip. Dark cherry and black currant notes mesh with a little scent of cedar on the nose, which adds to the anticipation. A full and smooth mouthfeel is complemented by blueberry and leather notes. The fruit lingers balanced by a subtle hint of coffee and balanced tannins on the finish. Luscious Washington Cab at its finest.

The Road Not Taken

I took the one less traveled by...
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long as I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth,
Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim;
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh,
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
